UoN 69TH Graduation Ceremony

On Friday 22nd September 2023 The University  held its 69th Graduation Ceremony, Themed: “Transforming The Society by Producing Resilient Manpower” A Ceremony which marked the return of physical Graduation since the last one was held in 2019 before the strike of the epidemic in 2020.

During the auspicious day and the last one for Dr Mrs. Vijoo Rattansi, UoN Chancellor,  the ceremony  saw 3,983 Graduands Conferred with Degrees, and Diplomas held at the Chancellors Court.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences  Graduated 531 Graduands, among them 7 graduates with doctor of philosophy, 63 Master’s degree, and 461 bachelor’s degree in different department under the faculty.

While delivering her speech Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, she congratulated the classs of  September 2023 “ Today marks the 69th Graduation of the university of Nairobi. As scholars you know the significance of number 69 in the ancient tradition of numerology.Often referred to as an angel number, 69 represents harmony, balance and spiritual enlightenment. It symbolizes the deep connection between the trilogy of mind, body and soul. In many ways, this graduation signifies that time is at hand for graduands to shift focus to family and work  life, to harmony of the home, to seeking and finding true life purpose and mastering the path to it”

In her speech The Chief Guest, PS of Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala who was representing the Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, she couldn't hide her joy as she also congratulated  the class of 2023 “ I am informed that today, the university will be releasing over 3000 graduates. Let me take this early opportunity to congratulate all the graduands for a job well done. I would also like to send best wishes to you in your future endeavors in addition, I wish to send my congratulations to the proud parents and guardians for their enduring support of the graduands until the finish line”

Vc Prof. Stephen Kiama noted “The university of Nairobi is  guided by its values of care and its people-oriented reform agenda, has seen it worthwhile to resume physical graduations and the delivery of instruction to our students. However, we will continue to deliver blended learning modes where flexibility and accessibility are paramount concerns for our students”

The chairperson of the Council Prof. Anangwe was also present and on his part, he expressed his joy and pride to graduands “ I stand before you today with joy and pride, as we gather to celebrate the achievements of over 3000 graduands, congratulations to each and every one of you for the dedication, hardwork and perseverance, that have lead you to this day. Your accomplishment are truly recommendable and deserve to be celebrated”

On his remarks the UoNAA chair representative  David Thuo “ I do take this opportunity to thank the university management for revamping back to face to face graduation after 3 years of virtual graduation necessitated by the circumstances beyond our control. It is also a day to remember and reflect on your path. Your first day as a fresher, making the initial steps to the prestigious university and navigating your way to all the corners of the institution as you come out today, full of passion for change and expectations, you need to develop your life strategy and onto the right track”

While speaking the valedictorian, Arian Muindi Nzioka Class of 2023 representative noted “ To the entire class of 2023, ours has been a journey of surprises. It has taken some of us six years, others five years and others four years to complete our undergraduate”
